Thank you for the replies. The new ones are 2x Japanese and 2x Italian. I have been feeding them on Heygates Quail Breeder Pellets which are 19.5% protein. I also have some mealworms which I thought might fatten them up a bit but I obviously won't give very many of those. Here are some pics... -

I've never used supplemental lighting, they just have natural daylight. They're pets more than anything so not bothered about a drop in egg production over the winter. @keren25 here are some pics. The quails are ok with the little hop into the connecting part but one of them in particular needs the ramp back into the shed which would otherwise be a bit more of a jump. I hope this helps and good luck with your set-up! -
