Anyone know what breed this chick is? I suspect it’s a little cockerel (all of my last hatch are looking like cockerels!!). He is 5 weeks old.

Hubby found the chicks today. Busted! The girls hatched 9/12 a week ago and they’ve been out of the coop free ranging for the last few day. I love watching them all together.

2 have hatched, one didn’t make it, looks like the egg got broken :(. There are lots more pips! This one looks like a cochin and it’s litre comb is already making me suspect it’s a cockerel. Time will tell!

I candled my eggs this morning when my broodys got up for food and water. We’re having a heat wave, hot & very humid and it looks like they’re going to hatch a bit early. I was expecting them Wednesday but they’ll probably start hatching tomorrow night! Still hoping hubby won’t notice the little...

That is very cool to know! I really don’t know for sure what mixes my ducks are, mostly just guesses from what ducks and drakes were at the farm I got the eggs from. I love how they’ve all turned out!

I thought my Rouen/runner male fertilized my Rouen females eggs but I’m pretty sure it was my Pekin. They are pretty cool. Thought I’d share :)

This guy is 14 weeks old and hatched from a BCM egg (or at least a very dark egg that I was told was a bcm egg). He has no copper on on him. Does it come in later or is he just a Black Marans? He is quite large with feathered feet and gorgeous. I’m trying to figure out which cockerels to keep...

10/12 fertility for the eggs I put under two broody girls, day 10. They’re doing a great job, can’t wait to see the barnyard mixes I end up with!

I have two more broodies my husband doesn't know about! I'm hoping he just doesn't notice :) Sounds like you're going to hatch some beauties!

I saw your possible mixes, they should turn out pretty cool. My Rouen hatched some that I’m fairly certain we’re fertilized by my Pekin and they’re awesome! This one is especially cool now that the Rouen feather pattern is coming in. Can’t wait to see what you hatch!!

Hahah! It's huge, can't wait to see what comes out of that one. I have ducks as well and they are definitely louder than my chickens however, I also have 5 geese and they are louder than all the birds combined somedays!

I wasn't planning on any more hatches this year but then 2 more hens went broody. It's much easier to give them eggs than trying to break them. That makes 6 broody hens out of the 11 mature girls I had and then I had 3 broody ducks! Needless to say, my flock has grown this year!! Unfortunately...
