hmm..I wonder if I should have left that old egg on the hen's nest that hasn't lay'd again since I broke up her broodiness w/ her first clutch. it's been about 5 days...like I said..we have golf balls everywhere ..I wonder if that confuses them lol!
Love all these stories lol! Esp growing up sitting in the hen house waiting to see the hens lay ..what a crack up..and a much better way to grow up observing nature then in front of a video game ;-)
So I went out there today and she was fine until I got too close..she let our one sharp...
Yesterday I saw one of my two hens go in her nest box (my hens are free range) to lay. I wanted to go out there and watch but I was afraid it would make her nervous and not use the nest box (especially since her and her sister had made other nests on the property that we had to hunt down and...
I have a Rooster and two hens..this is all new to me as well. they are about 5 months old and I started noticing my rooster doing this a couple few months ago too. It's so cute! He will even pick up treats and feed it to the hen..hold it in his mouth for her to peck it out. But the hens sure...

Sounds like they just might be okay out here then. we warm up in the day too..so at least they don't have to be cold all day. I'd so much rather put my time/money into making the dog kennel on our property ready as their coop then having to do an in between one as well. We have a two sided...
