    Bald Head Hen

I am hoping whoever is doing this will stop so hers can grow back. It makes me so sad seeing her little bald head. She is so sweet.

    Bald Head Hen

9 hens. No rooster. 4x8 coop. 8 x 12 run. They get out to free range twice a day while I am home to watch. They eat Layena crumbles, which is 16% protein. Sometimes scratch grains and mealworms. Occassional veggie scraps.

    Bald Head Hen

I need some help. I've googled till I've about driven myself crazy. I've asked in various facebook groups with no luck. Everything has just left me more confused, and almost in a panic. One of my 8 month old hens has lost most of her head feathers since Christmas and I have no clue what is going...

    Overworrying about Chicks?

That's exactly it. I do find myself getting better as I go into the 3rd week. I've forced myself not to check on them every few minutes, and I try not to over-analyze every sound or little thing they do. I'm still so nervous about holding them. I make my husband catch them when its time to take...

    Overworrying about Chicks?

I wish I had done that. I originally planned on 4 to start and I ordered 4. Then on a trip to tractor supply the day before they were scheduled to be delivered we ended up coming home with 4 more, then of course the hatchery sent an extra. My husband is so chill, and he was like, eh it'll be...

    Overworrying about Chicks?

I am. I love the cute little things they do, especially when I put my hand in with food and they start scratching around on my hand while they eat. Its just because I love them so much that I'm worrying. I did that too the other day when I had to leave to go shopping. I thought about them the...

    Overworrying about Chicks?

Hello all. I'm very new to this and I'm wondering if anyone else who was inexperienced found themselves constantly worrying about their chicks? I have 9 that I've had less than a full week. Some of them are almost a week old and some are almost 2 weeks old. But like, I find myself checking on...

Hello! I just joined too. I've got 4 Cinnamon Queen (almost 2 weeks old) and 5 Dominique chicks (almost a week old). I'm a first timer. So glad to have found this, and looking forward to having lots of support and help.

One baby chick pecking all the others.

Thank you! I have pine shavings on top of paper towels. I use the paper towels under them because it makes it easier to just roll up and get rid of the old shavings when I clean it. These love to scratch and make little holes to lay in. I had a little roost I bought but they don't care about it...

One baby chick pecking all the others.

I just got my chicks this week. It's my first time. I have four 8 day old Cinnamon Queens and five 4 day old Dominiques together in one brooder. Yesterday I noticed one of the little Dominiques is going around and pecking all the others, like she will go from one to the other all day long. They...

Chick obsessively pecking others. Doesn't seem aggressive?

I have one doing exactly the same. It's only 4 days old. While most of the others do it occasionally, this one does it all day, like going from one to another. It has me worried. I'm so worried one will end up hurt. How did your situation turn out? Did the behavior eventually stop.
