I had a similar problem, and what i did was so carefully picked at the dry membrane until you feel it 'stuck' then I would stop and then carefully I crushed the egg along the natural fault line, it didn't take much pressure, then I left the chick a while then later went back and freed a bit... -

I know what you mean!! The first time I saw one of my babies lying on its side, feet straight out behind it, I thought it was a gonna!!! So cute. -

I have just had 16 hatch, a mixture of Tuxedo, White, Italian, Tibetan and also Pharoah I was out for a few hours this afternoon and when I got home, I discovered an egg with a wee hole in it and a very dry portion of wing sticking out. The chick was in distress, so I carefully 'helped' it... -
incubation help needed asap!
I don't add water at all, and do a dry hatch. Have had no problems at all. The mother hen cant reduce humidity if it is a sticky day, so that is how I look at it :) Good luck!!- josand

I am just new to this breed, and have recently hatched 6 with 12 other eggs of different breeds. I didn't know anything about the Australorp chicken, except I like the black lol. Nasty Hen
I had a pair of golden quail that i had to separate as the male wouldn't leave her alone. I put the hen in with a mother chook and her chicks in a run ( bad mistake) and she got attacked and hurt around the neck. I removed her and she has been on her own for a couple of weeks and is healing... -
Incubation Temp
Hi, I have just put 27 quail eggs into my incubator and wondered what temp they need to be incubated at. Is it the same as chickens? I have been given these eggs and am not sure if they are viable or not, but want to give it a go :) Any help would be appreciated. I have hatched hens eggs... -

My first batch of quail eggs.
This is exactly what I am planning for my quail. Will be putting the first lot in the incubator after xmas to hatch. I want to eat the eggs and meat. I am told the first one is the hardest to kill and process. I hope we are strong enough. -
