OK thank you very, tbh this was the answer I was looking for, I suppose I am putting to much trust in the sexing of the hatchery so I might get one to a few Oops cocks. so I suppose I won't put another male and wait and see if I get any. And I understand what you were saying about the rooster...
Like you said white leghorns pass on white coloring which I don't find to be very eye catching but they have a great egg laying gene so it is still a good choice. What if I get a Speckled Sussex Rooster with a buff, red, or black, do you know what I'd get? And do they have a strong egg gene to...
I think I initially made myself misunderstood. I personally don't care for the sexing at day old chicks. My goal with this rooster that I'm choosing is to give the strong egg laying genes. And to a certain point it does matter what rooster I chose, for example if I get a buff orpington rooster...
I understand your concern of the adequate housing and now that you have given me your opinion I'll see how to modify it to better suite their spacial needs. But let me worry about that since it's my responsibility. And I know I'd have to separate the breeds, I KNOW that both or all 3 roosters...
yes it is rather large, you can get in it with a slight crouch, it's about 5ftL×3ftW×4.5ftH. Do you have any suggestions for a third rooster? I'm probably ONLY going to keep the Wyandotte roosters pure bred. And I have a plan for any cockerels I hatch so no need to worry about those, a friend...
oh yes if I plan to breed the wyandottes I am going to segregate the hens and specific rooster as lazy Gardner said. Unless suggested otherwise I more then likely won't mix the Wyandottes. I won't get a red sex link because if you breed sex links, you won't get a sex link. That why I asked...
Could you answer my original question tho pleaseeee? I need help choosing a 3rd rooster from a good egg production breed. And if and to what I should cross the male silver and golden Wyandotte. And same to the 3rd rooster.
I live in Memphis TN so it gets kinda hot in summer and then rather cold, but of course they will be provided with necessary equipment depending on weather. And the run is 40ft long 12 ft wide, but since it is the standard 4ft high chain link fence we heightened it to 8ft high. So 35-40ft×12ft×8ft
Yes I am going to keep them all and the run is about 35-40ft × 12ft it is a fenced area which was there when we moved to the house, possible a dog enclosure. We live on 4.5 Acres so they will be allowed some free ranging also. I have ordered 1 golden and 1 silver Wyandotte rooster which I will...
These are all the breeds of chicken I have ordered from MPC, obviously all brown egg layers except the leg horns which lay white. I have ordered 2 roosters being more of a "beauty" breed which I plan to mate with my silver and golden Wyandotte. I dont plan on mixing those roosters with other...
