Does this look normal for a two-week-old quail? It's eating and drinking just fine, but keeps pecking at his behind/belly area. There are no cuts or anything, just looks like he's starting to lose feathers there. Is it because he's just getting bigger feathers? It didn't look like that before... -
Amoxicillin dosage for baby quail Ulcerative Enteritis or infection
My wife and I had four baby quails that got sick, we aren't totally sure with what but we figured it was either cocci or Ulcerative Enteritis. We put the birds on Corid (today is the third day), but three of them still died. There is blood in their droppings and seems they die a few hours after...- JosiahP

Does anyone know if I can give the baby quail Amoxicillin? I have 500mg strength in powder/pill form. If he's on Corid already, is it safe to also give antibiotics at the same time? -

Unfortunately, another one passed away last night despite the medicine and care. More blood in her droppings. I suppose the outlook for the single chick left isn't so good. -

Nabiki, thank you. Yes, Monday morning there was diluted blood from one of them in their droppings. It only happened once. Yes, we considered Ulcerative Enteritis from reading other posts on this forum, but just aren't sure. We decided to treat them with Corid since Cocci seemed to fit the... -
