I appreciate the response. When doing an epsom salt soak, should I just like hold her up so only the leg is in the water? It’s winter where we live and I’d worry about her having wet feathers, even being inside. And how long should a soak be?
She doesn’t try to stand on the leg at all. She...
The door isn’t finished so it’s like just the frame of the door. So it’s possible it only hit the leg. She seems content to just lay down. I’ve lightly pressed around her body and it seems fine. It seems more that she was holding her wing out over the bad leg. She keeps it tucked too. The only...
A couple days ago my son was playing in the yard and the story he tells me is that he was running past the not yet put up run door that was leaning on a bench and it fell over onto one of the hens. I wasn’t out there so I have to take his word for it.
She has been laying down not moving or...
Need to rehome this beautiful boy who really likes to sing. We live in a neighborhood and he’s just too much for our 1 acre. Plus we ended up with 2 roosters and only 4 hens so one has to go.
He is very friendly, has never even pecked someone. Loves treats and hanging out with the girls...
I guess I get anxious about bothering people. Our household is split in favorites. I like the bigger, prettier, nicer one (though I know personality can change especially once they’re fully mature). My 6 year old and husband like the meaner one. My husband thinks he’d protect the flock better...
I’m in Lebanon. I could have roosters. Half my neighbors seem to have roosters. I just don’t wanna be that person I guess. Certainly can’t have 2 roosters for only 4 hens.
Mostly decided to join the blog to see about rehoming a couple of roosters. I’d keep them if I could but don’t think it’d be feasible. I had chickens growing up but this is my first flock on my own. We started with 6 and 2 ended up being roosters.
I’ll probably stick around for any future...
Anyone have any suggestions for rehoming 2 roosters? They’re about 16 weeks old. One is blue Plymouth Rock, large, very nice (for now). Other is amberlink, smaller, more aggressive (so more ready to protect).
They’re both crowing and while it doesn’t really bother me, I don’t want it bothering...
