When we've had chickens go broody, we've put the hard, blue dry ice used in coolers in the nest under the hen. The ice needs to be swapped about every 8 hours but generally will reduce the hen's body temperature enough to flip her hormones and break her broodiness within about 3 days.
What...
Hi! We had a 5-yr old hen who lost her hatch-mate and went broody for the first time a couple weeks later. We broke the broody with dry ice. A couple weeks later, same story. The third time, she refused to stop brooding, the other hens started avoiding the coop and laying around the property...
I returned home from military service a couple days ago to an apparently sick hen. She's a 2-year old Barnevelder who shares a clean and pest-free coop with 7 other hens. All get along very well and free range all day on our wooded acres. They have continual access to clean water and Nutrena...

Total of 8 chickens which are very friendly with one another, free range on our wooded property all day, and live together in a clean coop with plenty of water and food.

Hi! We have what we were told were partridge Plymouth Rock pullets. I think these 2 look ready to lay, but they're only about 4 months old. Does anyone have any experience with this breed?
Help!
I believe a coyote got its teeth into one of my hens this morning (other possible predators are raccoons or hawks). Regardless, her innards are now exposed and hanging open. I've secluded her and ensured she has water (though she's not drinking that I can see) and food (also not eating)...
