try combining the 2 feeds so they get both and then gradually increase the amount of layers pellets and reduce the mash.

i cant view the links at work but i tried a few different types of trap a few years ago and none of them were very successful until i tried sticky traps which are basically a pad of glue that the mouse runs across and gets stuck. they were the only ones that worked for me. some of the others...

i dont wash the eggs, i just use them as they are. i do heat up the shells and crush them and feed them back. not had any issues with what we have given them so far, not tried potato peelings tho because of what some people say if in doubt just try it

as an update i brought both farms into the kitchen and sorted them out. they seemed to warm up quite quickly but because the first box had somehow got condensation on the inside some of the oats got wet so some of it did go to the chooks in the end, kept the beetles that seemed to be alive and...

my thinking about starting over was that they have had a few weeks now at lower temperatures so overall it maybe quicker to start over. also the containers they are in are clear plastic, not an issue in a dark garage but more of an issue inside the house.

sadly there is no room under the bed as its not the type that has any room. i am working on finding a space, still above freezing here but probably not much tbh. i may just feed the whole lot to the girls ( they will eat the beetles i think?) and start over with a couple of indoor colonies.

i am far from an expert but i wouldnt have thought it would have the right nutrients in it tbh. do you not have any kitchen scraps or maybe a friend could lend you some?

i will try most foods but dont think i will be trying that. i would sell them eggs tho if that was what they wanted, they will carry on eating it so you may as well get the sales.

is there a way you could cover the vent at night to stop any draughts? or is there anyway to lower the nesting boxes to avoid the problem?

cheers for the suggestions, i will have to try and find a place to put them inside i think. or use this as en excuse to start another lot to compare the differences. i am not sure its freezing in the garage yet but it may well get to that point later in the year.

i have 4 of what we call dalek composters. i have just been throwing the poo and straw in there for now, no grass clippings at this time of the year so will have to wait till new year. may try some shredded paper in there tho.

atm mine are in a cold garage in the uk. will this kill the, or just slow them down? dont really have anywhere in the house that i could put them without the risk of the catsjumping on it and knocking it over.
