I thought i read somewhere that they can't handle hot weather? Is this true? I want to raise some during the summer, it will get to be in the 90's even in the shade.
We have currently been moving ( by hand, 53 chickens daily) from their coop to a run, daily.
The current coop can not be hooked up to a run, so we are building another coop somewhere else on the property that can.

Would something like this with a roof and laying boxes be ok for laying hens?

I'm building a coop and trying to determine, should I use hardware cloth around the bottom 3 ft of the walls and then a 1x2 welded cage wire for the remaining middle/top of the coop walls? The hardwire cloth I'm looking at is 23 gauge, the description states that it is for "temporary"...
I'm with you... I've been searching for a grainery and or a cereal grower in my area that carries or grows organic..no luck at all. Honestly I think of I were able to find one, buying the pre mixed and bagged feed would be a better price per LB, those feed producers get a hefty bulk discount it...
