    I am with Donrae, Do you look in the woods, fields etc. for eggs? My girls, especially my extremely intelligent leghorns(ha ha) drop their eggs everywhere when they are out terrorizing the farm. We had one a while back, that laid an egg right under the doorstep, and my wife went out the door...

    I will give them more grit. I have 39 chicks in the brooder, and they eat a lot of grit, but havent been giving the big girls any, because they free range all day. My mistake is probably assuming they get enough out in the lane :(

    I guess I kinda let mother nature do her thing. No heat, well ventilated. I do run a light ( not a heat lamp) that is in a shatterproof enclosure with conduit, so they cant peck or cause a fire messing with it.
