I've been wanting to have chickens for a long time. Now that I have the time I think is needed to devote the appropriate amount of time to the hobby, I've finally started. Picked up my 1st batch of chicks at TSC on 3/26/25: 3 Rhode Reds, 2 Easter Eggers and 2 Rustic Rocks (whatever those are). Plastic bin brooder in the garage and will move to a home built coop when it looks like the right time. Coop will be within a fortified, fenced in and net covered 18' x 29' run/roaming area.
Have a few friends and neighbors who can and have helped me along the way.
I want chickens for pets and eggs. BYC seems to have a lot of good information in 1 resource. I'm figuring out how to sift through the information that is believable and useful for my situation.
