    Mr. Briggs might not last if "he" (not sure if goose or gander) hurts the chickens.......He's been kinda pecking at them from time to time.

    I am wondering about the goose my mom got to guard the chickens. I've been told they get mean or try to breed with the chickens if they are male.     I can't remember where my mom got them from, but the goose is a Roman Tufted.

    Yeah, the ducks are Pekins and will not be staying for long. They will be graduated to the dinner table when they are ready, so I don't think they'll be around long enough to cause those kinds of problems. The other 2 golden ones (can't remember their breed) are females.

She got 7 Black Australorp (forgive my spelling), 4 Easter Eggers, 6 Buff Orphingtons, 3 Barred Plymouth Rocks, 3 Golden laced Wyandots and 3 Plymouth Rocks........2 golden ducks of some kind (can't find the paper work) and a Tufted Roman Goose named Mr. Briggs.     Sweet Pea is a White Plymouth Rock......my mom got white chickens. BORING. She's my favorite, go figure. That's food coloring on her wings, by the way. Hope that doesn't offend anybody, but I just can't help myself. I want my mom to name the henhouse "The painted chicken".......

    Thanks for the welcome! Just to update you........my mom's husband is modifying the brooder to suit our needs. He's putting WHEELS on it too!!!!!! AND a DOOR!!!! So we can get them outside more easily. We'll just do some sort of chicken wire fence for temporary supervised visits on the grass...
