We should be getting our meat birds tomorrow. I ordered Hoovers “Rudd Rangers” per a few suggestions from friends. This is our first go with meat birds so I’m hopeful! Though now after doing more research and reading comments on your thread I’m wondering if we should’ve gone with Cornish. 🤷🏻♀️...
Oh wow!
Our goats and cows are in a pasture across from the barn and the horses are up by the barn where the chickens are, but they aren’t always in their stalls at night.
We first thought fox. We have grey fox around here. Then a friend said coyote and then several others said the same around our area. So not 100%sure, but thinking it could be! Either way I’ve got to discourage it!!
So crazy!! It’s weird that last year we didn’t have this problem and then all of a sudden this year in the last month in a half we’re losing chickens left and right! We’ve lived here for 7 years and I hear coyotes all the time. Rural area, but lots of houses and farms sprinkled in! And there are...

Wow! Sorry for your loss too! I didn’t notice any scent. Our ground right now is hard as cement so didn’t see any tracks. The more I’m reading the more I’m thinking it is a fox.
Thank you. I know it’s part of owning them, but stinks none the less!
And thank you for your response! I wasn’t sure. If it could be fox or coyote. I hear coyotes a lot around here, but we have horses near by this happened. 🤷🏻♀️ Wouldn’t think they’d be brazen enough.
So we’ve lost 7 chickens in the last month in a half. They just disappear. No remnants or anything. This morning I walk out to feed everyone and notice a lot of feathers on the ground. A pile in our chicken run area and another couple of piles by our horse stalls. No blood, no body parts, just a...
