    Better tasting Quail

Broiler chickens are put on a finisher feed that is very high in corn, the last seven days. That is where you get the yellow color and they say it improves taste. It also puts a lot of fat on the bird. Maybe it would work on quail. Rabbit pellets mixed with a lot of ground corn.

Anyone else's birds quitting early this year?

Has anyone keep their birds laying all winter? If you did keep they laying did you heat the building? Does anyone know how cold it has to get to affect egg production? I read the post about the heat lamp.

    toWhat to do?

I am sorry you lost your chick. There could be a thousand reasons for what caused you to lose your chick but one of the most common is not having the chicks warm enough. They need 100 degrees on their back the first few days and at least 95 degrees in the brooder area for the first week. Then...

A more Green Way To Brood Chicks.

A chick needs to be able to get 100 degrees on it's back the first few days of it life. They can not regulate their body temperature the first days. Temperature is very important.

    Chicken proof rat traps ???

The best rat control is a 2 1/2 to 4 inch pvc pipe about 4 ft long with rat poison (the bar bait type) in the middle of the pipe, placed along the outside edge of your coop. A rat or mouse will run down the outside edge of a building before interring. It will not pass up a tunnel. I am a retied...
