Question of the Day - Wednesday, May 14th, 2025

Because fruit has natural sugar (fructose) in it. They may not have added any HFCS or cane sugar but the fructose in the fruit is still there and frankly, that container is pretty much just liquid fructose that retains the flavor of the fruit.

Question of the Day - Wednesday, May 14th, 2025

No and that's not healthy to do. Even unsweetened, that's still a TON of sugar.

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

I've seen mine push them with their beaks but I've also seen them sort of gently kick the egg with their feet too. They aren't punting them, just sort of a gentle scoot.

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

Gandalf decided to sit on some eggs this morning but only one was real. She grabbed the two fakes out of the nesting box (that's right next to her btw) and added them to her little clutch of eggs (pls ignore the poo, it happens, literally. and bedding is getting changed later today)

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

I have! I even put one of the nest boxes in the area they were preferring to lay in the coop and they just changed locations in the coop. I don't want to leave real eggs in and them realize that real eggs have delicious treats inside but would it be stupid to take their shells and fill them...

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

Where has the time gone?! I have officially been able to give away eggs to friends and family and man, that just feels so good! Right now their favorite place to lay is in the coop but I'm sure they'll figure it out soon. We've had multiple days where every girl laid so that was pretty cool...

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

All 4 of them lay blue/green eggs. I got rid of the Barred Rocks. I'm going on a trip and the way the timing was going to work, I would end up leaving them (with a chicken sitter) after a very short integration period and that felt like a recipe for disaster. I told myself I would wait a year...

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

2 eggs today! Cleo's first and Chestnut's second! And both of them lay blue eggs!

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

I figured it was too much to hope for more eggs today. Maybe this weekend we'll get first eggs out of the rest of the girls. I figured we'd do a little flock intro because each of the EEs are named. Obviously, there's Chestnut, the MVC and first egg layer of the group: Here is Earl Gray-...

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

I cannot stop smiling y'all. I'm just so freaking happy. I knew I was doing everything right and this is sort of confirmation that I have happy, healthy chickens. I think I'm going to save all the shells from each chicken's first egg and make a little mosaic-style piece of art with it.

    Welcome... to Chicken Park

*insert Jurassic Park melodica music* I told myself that I wouldn't do this until I hit a specific milestone. I hit that milestone today! For a little context, I have wanted chickens for almost a decade at this point. Back in 2018 I even had a friend that was moving and was willing to sell...

What did you do in the garden today?

Prepped for the wind and rain we're supposed to get tonight in Southern Ohio and managed to get a bunch of scrap metal taken off to help make my whole backyard just so much more enjoyable

Barred Rock Chicks, new to chickens. Would you mind giving me a confirmation on my sexing?

Also, apologies for the attachments being backwards/out of order

Barred Rock Chicks, new to chickens. Would you mind giving me a confirmation on my sexing?

I have 4 barred rock chicks bought from TSC as straight run. First will be one group shot here: The rest of the pictures are attachments. Birds 1, 2, and 3 all have two pictures, bird 4 only has one because it was being a butthead and didn't want to show off the legs. The colors I used for...
