I agree with Pigeony, I think they each have their own personality. But …with this group, all 3 cream legbars are super chill and just dangle when you pick them up. That’s one reason I felt like they could be females. The opal legbar roo will freak out and fight to get free every time.
Thanks. It all lined up to be Roos, but it’s confusing how short their combs seem to be at this point. And the tail, especially on the slightly darker one is so squared off like a female. They also kind of act like females in my opinion too so it is confusing.
Hi, I hatched 3 cream legbars and 2 opal legbars from mail order eggs. I am confused because all 3 cream legbars were born a lighter golden color and I thought they were Roos. But they are 6 weeks old now and they have gotten more brown in their coloring and their combs are short and pale...
For sure he is different in pattern. He was a light golden colored chick so I knew he should be a male. But I found a posting somewhere awhile back that someone had a chick with all the male colorings and patterns in the feathers and it turned out to be a female. So I’ve been on the fence based...
Thanks! I was hoping so. He is beautiful and super friendly. It seems like my other breeds got streamer feathers and bright big combs way sooner than 6 months so I was beginning to think he was a hen.
Hi All, I have 3 cream leg bars. Two are definitely female and I have always thought this one was a Rooster, but he is 6 months old exactly and his comb is still so small and he hasn’t gotten any streamer feathers in his tail. Anyone familiar with this breed? I’m actually hoping he is a...
If she is a frost white legbar mix, (which she does look like), then shell probably lay a pale blue egg. She looks alot like mine. But mine are mixed with a white silkie so theyre legs arent yellow and they are solid white, but they look the same. I cant wait to see what color eggs they lay, but...
Thank you for the useful information but theyre enclosure has been totally turned to dirt. They dont go out to free range often. Maybe once every two weeks. I have to send them out in small groups of five at a time because we have alot of predators and neighbors with cats. Hawks are the worst...
My hen has started making this weird whole body motion similar to when a dog is about to throw after eating grass. She does not throw up, just the motion. She seems fine and normal but ive never noticed her doing this before and she does it several times a day. Its just weird so i was wondering...
The chicks are five weeks now. Im sure at least one is probably a rooster because of the comb, but im still not sure about the others. They are all white now and all have cute little crests. I do think theyll be attractive birds. But i can barely wait to find out whos a roo and whos a hen.
Thank you so much for the information. But sadly just minutes after i discovered her this morning she died. I gave her water, went inside to get the calcium crumbled up and when i came back out she had given up. This was so very fast. She was so healthy and vibrant the day before this happened...
When i went out to her this morning, she had laid an egg last night. It was her usual egg, intact and normal. But shes still just laying there looking miserable and i noticed what looks like yolk dripping out of her vent. But how could this be? She did not lay yesterday so could she have had...
