I was hoping to have two breeder groups (1m/5f each) next to each other. Even with enough females, they're still going to crow? If I block them from seeing other, will they still crow a lot?
I'm 99% sure that I will have to, but still asking for the 1% of me that has fingers crossed.
I want to raise groups of breeding Coturnix quail adjacent to each other. Will the male quail crow louder in front of each other? I am mainly raising the quail because they are quiet so minimal noise would be nice, haha.
TIA! :)
Hi! I've found a thermometer for my incubating purposes, the Brinsea thermometer, but I can't find a highly recommended hygrometer. Wet bulb thermometers also confuse me too much. What do yall recommend?
I will be incubating quail for now, if it matters.
Thank you! :)
I will be moving away quite soon, maybe in a year, so we'll see then about keeping my poultry in tractors. Thank you for the suggestions!
I would like to make a tractor using 1/4in hardware cloth, but even with a skirt, a coyote COULD push it over. It's just not worth the worry...
Oh my goodness Jesus answered my prayers you have the best electric fence energizer buying guide ever!!!! I'll definitely use this when I move to a different house and can use an electric fence!!! Why isn't your post a sticky?!?!?!
Tall fencing won't go well because of it'd be such a huge investment for such tiny birds AND my neighbors would go ballistic because it would block their river/city lights view. I mean I get the latter, but yea. No tall fence. Everyone only has about, at max, 6' fencing for the sides and not for...
That's my best bet at the moment. I might just raise them on my deck because it's 6' off the ground and can only be accessed through the house. I really wanted to put them on pasture but this seems like my best bet after learning that electric fencing is a no go and that I can't afford to build...
