15 week old Buff Orpington Rooster or Hen?

Hello all! 15/16 weeks ago I hatched out a online order of buff orpington eggs, ive never had the breed but heard and seen they are on the rather larger scale. Only 2 hatched and the other is a mutt with a mix but im pretty confident it is a she. Only problem is i have a rooster ban where i...

I recently hatched 5 Silkie Chicks (Spraddle leg?)

As of writing this, they have finally figured out their balance and are walking and keeping up with the others. Keeping the “splints” on and will check to see how they do without them in a week or so. :thumbsup

I recently hatched 5 Silkie Chicks (Spraddle leg?)

Yes it was an incubator hatch. Future hatching I’ll line the incubator with paper towels, I appreciate it. The 4 that don’t have spraddle legs hatched during the daytime and I put them into the brooder with paper towels as flooring, and the 2 that do have spraddle legs hatched between 11pm-5am...

I recently hatched 5 Silkie Chicks (Spraddle leg?)

I recently hatched out 5 silkie chicks and 2 of them are displaying what i would consider spraddle leg (they do the splits and spin in place). See the picture below. They are 2.5 days old. Ten minutes ago I put a ruberband as a type of splint so they could stand upright and replaced the make...

How long can chicks stay in incubator?

They are thriving. Eating and drinking well, no issues with them. I will say they are MUCH more friendlier than picking up a half dozen-dozen chicks from TSC. They aren't skittish and are very interested in myself and family members to socialize with.

How long can chicks stay in incubator?

Well its day 24, and no pips or wiggles. I decided to candle them 1 by 1 late last night because I saw no external pipping, and I have by no means the background of what they are supposed to look like (other than googling, and picture comparing), but it looks like they stopped development at...

How long can chicks stay in incubator?

Day 23, nothing new, hoping for the best but expecting the worst. How long would it be safe to say they didn't make it? I will be doing an egg-topsy for those who didn't make it. On the other hand if no others hatch, do you have any recommendations for ordering small order chicks? I've checked...

How long can chicks stay in incubator?

They have since been moved to the brooder. Thank you guys for all the helpful comments! I personally don't have issues with temp or humidity, just would have rather been safe than sorry as this is my first time hatching. You guys rock!

How long can chicks stay in incubator?

We are at day 22 of incubation. Temp is 99.5 humidity is 68%-72% I ordered 10 buff orpington eggs, and after candling ended up with 7 that looked good & healthy 2 days before lockdown. I have 2 chicks that are active and one hatched about 24 hrs ago and the other about 16hrs, still have 4...

    Botulism in ducklings?

We have 2 female pekins outside that have always treated her like their own little duckling (we introduced them as soon as we got both of them), so she's out with them during the day (supervised), and in her enclosure during the night just until she is a little bit bigger to fend from the...

    Botulism in ducklings?

She started breathing very lightly around 6am this morning as well as being very lethargic, and passed peacefully next to her sister around 8:45am. We hope she enjoyed her time with us, and we tried to spoil her the best we could (As well as try to treat whatever may have been wrong). Thank you...

    Botulism in ducklings?

They’re both in identical 36" x 18" x 16" enclosures, and can partially see each other. The one that’s being treated has been just lethargic in her cage whereas outside she kinda follows what her sister is doing.

    Botulism in ducklings?

This may be a stupid question, but would I be able to put them back together? Or would it be best to wait out to see more improvement? I just don't want either of them feeling lonely or depressed.

    Botulism in ducklings?

I snagged this video right before cleaning their brooder, they both seemed fine. I want to say this was 1 or 2 days before the illness showed up. Just some info on my homestead, I have a flock of 7 chicken (been raising chicken since I was 14), and 2 pekin ducks that I got at the beginning of...
