No pips for me yet but I did hear a soft knocking a little while ago and if I get really close to the bator I can hear a very faint chirp every so often. I am so excited! Sadly I don't thinking i'm getting any Star Wars babies since there's only an hour left in the day for me, but I'm not to sad...
I now have two sets of pharaoh coturnix eggs in the bator. 1 set is on day day 5 and last night I could see a few had veins developing. The other set is on day 2. I might add a third set because my Tuxedo's just started laying as well!
Well I candled my first batch on day 3 yesterday. There were a few eggs that looked like they had some development but I couldn't see much and no confirmed veins. I am thinking by tomorrow that will change so I will keep you updated. Meanwhile yesterday I put in a second batch of the Pharaoh...
I just put 6 of my Coturnix quail's eggs into the bator today. Last year I tried with 24 shipped eggs and only got 1 hatch. But this year I am pretty excited to have my own quails laying fertile eggs!!! Not sure how high the fertility rates are but we shall find out! I also have a friend who...
Well I am putting 6 of my couturnix quail eggs in to the bator tonight, and they should hatch on May 4th or maybe a day or two later. I just have to wait for the three freshly collected ones to sit for a few hours so the air pockets can form and then in they go! I can't wait to start with my own...
Hey! I am responding to your message really late from the Qail hatch a long. I also live north of Seattle! Snohomish County. I’d love to buy some eggs from you if you have extra still or in the future!
Yes! I made it a from a smaller sock because she likes to crawl under it and I worried a lager and fuller sock would crush her! I have a heat lamp and a heating pad as well but she seems to prefer this. Probably feels more natural.
So glad to hear you have had better success than me! Out of my 24 only 1 hatched, but I'm giving it a day or two more just in case.
How many have hatched now?
Well its been a few days and no more have hatched. I feel bad for my single baby so I take her with me almost everywhere. She is a back sleeper and it terrified me the first few times, they really do sleep like their dead!
Anyway I think I'll give the eggs a day or two more before I give up but...
Well no more have hatched yet so I’ve made a nice area for my single baby. When I first put her under the heat lamp she was shivering so I think it’s not quite strong enough but I can’t get it much closer to her so I put in a heating pad as well and I made a smaller rice and sock heat pad closer...
So the first one is out and I've decided to name her Patience, due to the fact that it took a lot of Patience to wait for these overdue babies/baby. It appears that Patience need some Patience because she keeps rolling around the other eggs and pecking at them.
At least one of my quails is hatching! I walked in an hour ago and saw shells on the ground but the pip is out of view. I didn't hear anything and was nervous, but now I'm hearing lots of peeping and the egg is even wiggling!
