    New Chick Mom...need help...QUICK!!

Quote: Blood would not be good. I think that would indicate an internal problem beyond just having a hard trip. Otherwise, try all you can. We have a chick that is very weak and I took some sugar water (with vitamin fortification in it, too) and mixed some of the mash (chick starter food) with...

Chicks under hens in cold weather

Thanks for your help! Everything's going great now for the little guy (or gal). Made sure he got plenty of water, and now he's finally eating (which he'd shown no interest in before)! I can finally stop worrying.

Chicks under hens in cold weather

We have a chick that miraculously hatched under 2 (yes, 2 in the same nest box) hens that we let have some eggs to sit on. It's so cold outside, I'm worried that the chick will not get food or water as it won't come out from under momma hen(s). I'm not able to be out there all day, so I don't...

    New Chick Mom...need help...QUICK!!

Hey, we just got our chicks yesterday (in the mail), and we already have lost 2. I feel for you. It is so cold right now, so they are very prone to hypothermia if they've traveled at all. I was told by Murray McMurray when I called this a.m. that if you face this situation, you should mix 3...

    Chicks and hens together?

Quote: Some people are more cautious about what age to introduce chicks (most say the closer to same size, the better), but regardless of that, I have been told over and over that the best way is TIMING. Meaning, introduce them at dusk, just as all your other established chickens are settling...

    Bantam BEASTS

I completely agree with your comments and the posts before re:protecting my daughters - that is definitely the #1 concern. Thank you!

    Bantam BEASTS

We have 23 six month old chickens, five of which are roosters. Two out of our 5 bantam roos are aggressive toward me and my daughters, who are 3 and 6. One especially, our blue cochin bantam, Smokey, seems to pick a fight - even if you're across the yard, he may come over to take some whacks at...

    Dove/s Wanted in MD

I'm looking for mates for a couple of my ringneck doves. Anyone anywhere near the area of Frederick or Hagerstown, MD have any to sell?

    dove info

As long as they have plenty of space, they should be fine. Ringnecks tend to be territorial - they will pick on each other (a male from a mated pair will pick on other males, etc.) almost relentlessly if not given enough room. They shouldn't have any problem with diamond doves - not much...
