My SGs are like yours.... very beautiful bird I do admit!

My Sapphire Gems are like yours jennyhenny54... I ordered 5 from Hoover Hatchery in Feb. They lay brown eggs... these particular Sapphires were created in the EU and are bred for laying eggs. Unexpected Chicken Lover, they are pretty but no, no blue eggs with these girls.

A friend of mine does this with his turkeys... for us, it's too late and we are moving so eh, the new coops with have sand for sure!

I use puppy pee pads. I raise Cornish hens for meat and since changing to the pads, I have had no issues with splayed legs.
