    Coconut Pulp/Cocofeed

I started doing fermented feed using rice bran, coconut pulp, and the layer feed. No matter what % of each i try they eat it all like starving rats. They eat so much they have bulging crops like a they have a goider and still act like they are starving. I was trying to figure out a good mix...

    Growing fodder for chickens

I used to eat dandelions when i was a kid. I also remember a song that mentions dandelion wine but I have never tried it. The field we had that was scattered with dandelion flowers did look pretty nice. The horses liked eating them also.

    Growing fodder for chickens

I sent an email to the ccp guys and am now waiting for a reply. I have been reading more of this thread though and see the temps above 70 degrees are not ideal for growing fodder. At this time the highs are around 100 degrees and the lows are around 75 degrees so i guess this would be a winter...

    Bresse Gauloise in USA?

I finally have 1 Rooster and 3 hens that are from the Bresse imported from France by the Royal Project in Chiang Mai. The Bresse Rooster and my Leghorn Rooster do not get along with each other at all.

A lot of my younger chickens just sleep huddled on the floor of my coop

Hell I have Warrens (or isa browns) that are about 8 months old and they still sleep huddled up on the floor and it is 75F - 80F degrees at night. A few roost but most huddle up. Several have died from getting suffocated or squished in the corner.

    Growing fodder for chickens

thanks for the CCP link. I will contact them to see if they will sell me some seed. I would probably have to grow it in trays like you are doing it and that might be too much for as many chickens as I have but maybe i can start it in trays then transplant it to dirt.

I don't think Rye, barley and wheat will grow here. At least that is the reason I am told that beer is so expensive. I am also told that alfalfa won't grow here and If i could get it to grow I could make a lot of money selling it to rabbit farmers.

    Growing fodder for chickens

Maybe you are right. i would hate for the farmers around me to complain to the government although the yellow dandelions would look nice in the fields the seeds would blow all over the place.

    Growing fodder for chickens

I have never heard of salt grass before but after searching for it I am pretty sure this isn't it. These are fallow rice fields. When I bought this place it was during the rainy season and there was a lot of rice growing with some grass here and there. After the standing water subsided they...

I have never seen dandelions here. Does anyone know if they would grow in Northern Thailand?

Fermented Coconut Pulp + Rice Bran + Layer Feed

Since no one has chimed in on this thread with any advice I am going to post what i decided to do. I have no idea what the ingredients are for the layer feed since they are not listed on the bag but I do know that it is 18% protein and has some cracked corn in it. My fermented mix at this...

Very Interesting. This looks like a pretty good system for someone with only a few chickens.

    Growing fodder for chickens

Masa is the flour made from white corn so I just call white corn Masa corn. Picked the habit up from a friend that gave me the corn to plant. White corn is higher in B1 and B2 vitamins than yellow corn. Yellow corn is slightly higher in Niacin but In my opinion not enough to make up for not...
