I'm so sorry you lost your chickens, that's so sad. I wish there were more avian vets with chicken experience. I couldn't find any other vet that would take mine. This forum has helped me a lot and I hope it does for others. Thank you for your advice!

Hey, I wanted to update about the hen. She is doing great, and I think I figured out what was going on with her. So while the vet said maybe Marek's, the hen wasn't display the splayed leg problems (she was just very weak), and after taking her home and removing her grain feed, she started doing...

She hasn't had grit since I brought her inside, but I can put some down. I have some electrolytes too, so I can get those going. I'll make up some chick food and egg for her. Thanks, I wasn't sure if I should feed her!

Hello Everyone! I wanted to give an update to all of you who have helped so much. My sweet little chicken is doing better! I don't know if massaging her crop helped or pulling food and only giving her water, but she is much perkier and "chicken-like" today. She can hold herself up without...

Yeah, that's kind of where I'm at, for now. Fingers crossed that she gets better. I'm really leaning toward sour crop after spending hours looking up signs.

Thanks. I am in Colorado. It's been dry, and they haven't been exposed to any other birds. We lost our last bird of the previous flock in February and sanitized the coop extremely well. The new birds didn't go into it until mid-June. I'll try to get some Corid today.

I gave her olive oil, but only a little. I have a syringe, so I may have to get it to her that way, into her esophagus. I'm wary of that since I've never done it! She hasn't wanted to drink water on her own since last night. I can get probiotics and miconazole too.

Update: She's also bobbing her head every once in a while like birds do to try to "swallow" what's stuck in their digestive tract. Edit, attaching a picture again. Her crop is very big, no food today and she doesn't want to drink water.

No, vet didn't check for worms.

Thank you all so much for your help! So when I just picked up the little girlie, she was kind of burping gas. As far as I know, this can be from sour crop, right? And as I said to SandyRiverChick, she is a little puffed up. All of her weakness and limp wing is on the right side, where her crop is.

Her poo is solid, looks normal compared to the other birds. And she's still pooing, so not a complete impaction if that's what it is. She is kind of puffed up. I don't have any Corid, but could get some. If she has coccidiosis, wouldn't all the birds? Thanks so much for your help!

Hi! New to the forum, so greetings and thanks for any help. I've had chickens for about 13 years and just got a new flock after the last ones finally passed away. My new girls are all 19 weeks old this week, so should start laying any day now. I have one hen that I'm very worried about and would...
