Thank you. So to update. I had to separate the Cornish x from the other 2 layer chicks because one of the layer chicks had a hurt leg and I think the Cornish x trampled it. It's only 2 1/2 weeks old and is already like 2 lbs. So I am going to put the Cornish cross out on grass in a week in a...
Accidentally got a Cornish x instead of a Delaware and decided to keep it and raise it for meat. From what I've read they aren't supposed to roost on a perch because they'll get sores and you have to take their feed away at night. So how am I supposed to raise thos bird with the rest of my flock...
I heard again about the method I used on a podcast and I am convinced I did the right thing she probably just needed more time with the others before I put that stress on her and she was eating medicated crumbles originally and I think the organic non-medicated is just too much of a change that...
So should I Move her to the coop with my other hens and 3-4 weeks? I am pretty sure she'll outgrow the box with her 2 chick mates any way. The other two try to sit under her breast like she's a momma bird. It's so cute!
I've got 3 18 week old chickens and judging from all of the signs I'd say it's gonna be a while. They have gotten very loud around me like hey!!! Hey!!!! We want some of those treats!!! But their combs and wattles are only slightly red and I still have to chase them or lure them in with treats...
I confirmed that this chick is a cornish cross and when I went to replace her the guy selling it to me just let me keep her and gave me a new Delaware but the delaware just died. So I am back to the same 3 I started with. The Delaware had pasty but and it wouldn't eat or socialize with the other...
I tried to remove the pasty butt from one of my new chicks in a basin of warm water and then blow dried her on warm and she died later that night. Now I think I should have just monitored her for a few days before putting her through so much stress. Maybe she got too cold.
ok thank you for the advice. The guy I got her from said he'd replace her. I'll put some more ventilation in. The temp is between 85-90f right now but it's a solid tub.
I have a very large delaware week old chick. I also have a brahma and a welsummer and she is twice the size of them. The large one sits down alot so it feathers are all matted on it's belly and she's always panting. I keep thinking she's going to die soon but its been 4 days and she's still...
After reading all of the forums it sounds like the chick is okay as long as their crop is empty in the morning. I have 3 week old chicks and one has a very full crop. I am going to monitor her. This is my second set of chicks that I've raised. The first set seemed much healthier. I used...
