    treated wood

Thank you for your reply. Sounds like good common scents. We used treated wood for the framing and I was concidering using it on my inside partitions hoping it would deter roost mites. I will be using DE in the spots they chose to dust in [ they can free range as long as we don't lose to many]...

    treated wood

My ? is , if treated wood is used inside the chicken house does it prevent mites and lice from hiding on it? Also , is it toxic to chickens at all?

What time of the day are they laying? Maybe the white hen just wasn't ready to lay yet and then after you got the other egg , she just happed to be ready to lay her egg. Not sure about what kind of chicken the white one is, but she is very pretty.

    West Virginia anyone?

I think they make the hens happy if there are not to many of them. I don't mind the crow if there aren't too many or too close to the house. Do you live in an area where it would bother the neighbors? The neighbors across the road from us already had a rooster ,so I don't think it will bother...

As long as I get good eggs I'll be happy with them. Do the ones that are all white still lay brown eggs? Did you have to incubate your eggs or did some of your hens go broody?

    West Virginia anyone?

Yes, Very beautiful! Quite a bit more rugged compared to Roane County . The encyclopedia calls where we are the Appalachian plateau . Plenty rough for me though and lots of wildlife. The people in the back of us filmed a bear underneath their deer feeder. The next picture shower no feeder at...

To Hilltop Farm, Yes , that was evident about day 5. The funny thing is that the grandkids named him 'Big Buddy' on the very first day! That's a picture of them as my avatar. I'm thinking he is the one in the back. I have to say I'm kind of glad to have a rooster. How are the 2cd generation...
