Thank you for your reply. Sounds like good common scents. We used treated wood for the framing and I was concidering using it on my inside partitions hoping it would deter roost mites. I will be using DE in the spots they chose to dust in [ they can free range as long as we don't lose to many]...
Maybe someone else has had a chicken that does the same thing. None of mine ever have, but I will be interested to see if someone else can figure it out.
What time of the day are they laying? Maybe the white hen just wasn't ready to lay yet and then after you got the other egg , she just happed to be ready to lay her egg. Not sure about what kind of chicken the white one is, but she is very pretty.

I think they make the hens happy if there are not to many of them. I don't mind the crow if there aren't too many or too close to the house. Do you live in an area where it would bother the neighbors? The neighbors across the road from us already had a rooster ,so I don't think it will bother...
As long as I get good eggs I'll be happy with them. Do the ones that are all white still lay brown eggs? Did you have to incubate your eggs or did some of your hens go broody?

One of these little fuzz balls turned into a little roo. Got him out of the pullet bin at TSC. Thought red sex link males where supposed to be yellow! He turned yellow fairly soon after these pictures , hopefully I only got 1 HE!
