I've ordered silkies twice over the years from ideal. First time I ordered 6 and got 6 girls. Second time I ordered 3 and got all girls again ! But I also ordered 4 frizzles and got 3 rooster. Its just luck of the draw I guess.

Do you think she'll do that and leave her babies? At least 3 have hatched. I don't have a crate but I have a bottomless cage I can put over the box. I just don't want her stepping on her eggs and freaking out.

My bantam hid a nest on top of a pen in a narrow spot. She has 14 eggs. I tried to move her one night a week ago and she just went back to her old spot so I gave her back her eggs. My broodies have been hatching chicks and I noticed a 2 day old bantam cochin had a comb already. I noticed a few others that are a little older do as well, but not all. Does this mean they are male? I don't recall mine getting combs so young.

I'm in southern Utah . it's supposed to be 112 today . I've been soaking areas in the shade and running a mister. I put a frozen bottle out but they won't go near it. I think a fan would only work if it was humid. Feeding frozen fruit helps too.

I wonder if you might have a frazzle . I was told to up their protein. My frizzle looked like that when she molted but her feathers grew back in , in just a few weeks.
