We have goslings!! Need answer please¡

That’s hilarious! 😂 I think at that speed you’re probably fine, but I’d love to know how the rest of the hatch goes!

I’m not an expert, so definitely do what you feel is right and watch the goslings for behavior if you’re worried.

We have goslings!! Need answer please¡

As far as I’m aware, 72 hours is the general guideline for hatched poultry like ducks, geese, and chickens. This is why they are able to be shipped without too much worry, they’re still working off the absorbed nutrients. I have had zero problems with goslings that were in the incubator for 48...

We have goslings!! Need answer please¡

If the others are pipped I would wait, if not you can probably be quick and remove the 4 hatched ones. If the pipped ones are taking long enough that you’re worried about the 4 hatched ones, you can try being quick as well. Hatched one’s should be good for 72 hours.

    High loses this year

Any other info? Are they dying slowly or just healthy one day and dead in the morning? How clean or dirty is their area? Did they seem smaller when you got them this year? (Maybe the hatchery got eggs from pullets that were just starting to lay this year, usually are much more fragile).

    Rabbit kits question

I’m really hoping that it was just an accident. Maybe it jumped out and died and the doe chewed on it a bit. Idk, it’s definitely sad and I’m hoping it won’t happen again. Maybe I’ll put a camera out there and see what’s going on. All the babies seem to be getting fed so I don’t know what...

    Rabbit kits question

I am using a nest box. Unfortunately I went out to check on them today and 1 of the kits was out of the box and partially eaten. This is the first pregnancy this doe has gone through and she has been doing really well, but I’m worried. My other doe also has kits right now, but she already has 10...

    Rabbit kits question

Hey all, 1 of my does have birth to 7 kits a few days ago and everyone seems to be doing well. Today I checked in the nest box and found a weird thing going on. The kits were separated, 4 in a small pile in the front and 3 in the back. The ones in the back were covered by a lot more pulled fur...

    Geese per gander?

I guess I’m just going to have to wait and see how mine stack up. I’ll be sure to report how it goes in the spring. One of my other posts, someone mentioned that after the 1st season, the males get better at mating and don’t pull out so many feathers, so maybe that’s what happened for you?

    Geese per gander?

I was thinking I could probably keep them in separate pens for the season.

    Geese per gander?

I foolishly thought geese were like ducks and chickens in that 1 male will cover many females and having multiple males would present some problems, but it sounds like they can reliably cover 1-2? And hopefully won’t fight each other over females?

    Geese per gander?

    Interesting… what breeds are they?

    Geese per gander?

Hey there, just curious what ratio people go with for breeding geese? I had 2 adult females and ordered goslings this year with only 1 that I specifically ordered as a male. Well… it’s starting to look like all the others are females, maybe 1 more male out of the other 5. That leaves me with 1...

    Helping my goslings like me?

Totally fair. The brooder is 4x4 and the goslings are letting the chicks use them like mamas (the chicks will nuzzle on top of the goslings who will just chill there and keep them semi warm 😅). I’m more worried about them out growing the chicks than the brooder for now. We had an unfortunate...

    Helping my goslings like me?

That’s so cool! You have them trained by commands? My two adult geese learned very quickly the protocol when I added them to my flock last year, but I think they mainly followed the ducks. I don’t have any of my birds trained by commands, but that sounds super cool!
