    Limping chicken

Hopefully this works! It should be a video of her limping. I couldn’t find the cut I thought I saw the other day. So maybe I’m crazy and she’s limping for another reason?

    Limping chicken

I don’t think it’s very deep but since it’s in the crease it’s hard to tell. Its not swollen. But her limp is pretty bad. I’m going to soak her again shortly and I’ll see if I can get a picture. I bought some vet wrap but it wouldn’t stay on.

    Limping chicken

One of my girls has a cut on the underside of one of her toes in the crease and she is limping. I’ve soaked her in epsom, applied neosporen and an antiseptic spray a few times a day. What else can I do for her? Today is day 3 of her injury. She lays down a lot but still gets up to eat and drink...

    Building a coop question

The area where the coop will be is pretty protected from rain by our trees. Our winters are usually pretty mild. We have some nights/mornings that get in the teens but not many. We’ve had a couple possums and a skunk. Nothing has been able to get into the run. I was thinking of getting a roll of...

    Building a coop question

Okay so I started with a prefab coop but I want more chickens so I’m going to build from scratch! We built a secure run and put the prefab coop inside it. I’m wondering if I can build a 3 sided coop on a concrete pad and have the bare side butt up against the end of the run. It has a galvanized...

    Young rooster behavior

Thank you! They have 1 acre to roam freely and lots of bushes and trees to hide in and under. They all stay together though. He doesn’t seem to be actually hurting any of the girls. But the silkie pullet is very small compared to him, so hopefully he doesn’t decide to get more aggressive. The...

    Young rooster behavior

My 15 week old silkie rooster has just started chasing the pullets. Sometimes he will give them a peck on their backs. One of the girls will stand up to him and peck him back but the other two just run. He doesn’t do it constantly. They will just be minding their own business and he’ll randomly...

    Is this a baby possum?

So tonight I solved my possum problem! New question is this, my dog caught the possum, had it in his mouth but did not break the skin or puncture it in any way. He put it down when I told him to and then it just played dead until he was actually dead. But is my dog going to get any diseases from...

    14 week old silkie sexing

Yes. Both 14 going on 15 weeks. The white one has always been larger. It does have some feathering on its legs. There was more but some were plucked out by a brooder mate a while back. The chest feathers were plucked as well but they are finally coming in.
