Has anyone tried canning vegetables in bulk for their ducks to eat over the winter? I'm also interested if anyone has experimented with preserving greens like dandelion or comfrey over winter as well- with any method. This is a problem for me, where over the winter everything is so desolate I...
I have at least 2 Courtnix quail roosters in my flock that need to go, they are fighting and I don't have the pens to keep them all separate and happy. We're near gridley IL, and if you're interested we can set a time and place to get them to you. You can have them both for $15. I might trade...
I thought that this was one of my more aggressive males, that's why he was separated to begin with~ but he certainly got a scare from that mean hen XD so I don't know.
They are Courtnix. I just ordered another pen because space is part of the problem. If pairing is a bad idea, do you suggest I leave all the quail that are use to each other in the same pens, just upscale so they have more room?
I have a few too many male quails in one pen and I'm trying to pair them up with females in other pens. They've been pecking at each other's faces so I've already separated 2 completely from the others, that I thought were the major bullies. It's been about a week and I went to put one of these...
Oh thanks for this! That person did mention Henhouse reserve, which I've just got some bags of, and that's encouraging that it works so well for them. I am just searching for organic brands that are more affordable if anyone has input or wants to vouch for a brand
Has any one raised an organic flock of chicken or ducks on Home Fresh feed brand? Just curious if you think it's worth the money, or if you notice a difference in egg quality through taste?
I think this must be a common problem- has anyone had luck raising guineas within a fence rather than a closed top pen? I read I need to get them comfortable in the coop for a few weeks so that they know they're home. Then I think I'll let them out into the open top pen (with wings clipped) to...
I have 5 little guys that didn't sell on Craigslist, so I wonder if anyone would need them here? They're almost 2 weeks old now and have been well supplied with niacin. They would all go together for about $50. Any takers?
This has been going on for 2 weeks I think? I don't know if it's related to a month or so ago when I left the tarp off my duck's crate, and it rained overnight in through the slats. Everyone got wet and some came out hunched up and raspy. I thought they got respiratory infections because there...
Ok, I will try cleaning them.
I've cleared off the scabs and cleaned them and they look so much better now! It's good to know this may be a passing disease, thanks for the assessment and suggestion :)
