    Chickens are actually more intelligent than we give them credit for. They feel emotions just as we do. As others have said your hen just saw her flock mates killed. She needs time to mentally heal from that. I would give her time and love. You did do the right thing by getting her a new flock...

    The dog crate is what I would use but that is currently being used by the hurt hen and her little family.

    I can try that but the stuff that I would use to separate them is currently being used by a hurt hen, her co-momma, and her babies. She was severely hurt by a hawk so she is separated from the flock s she can heal and raise her babies with her co-momma.

    Oh they love to graze. When they are not trying to eat my long hair they are nibbling on the grass and bugs.
