Nothing that I saw that fit those symptoms. I used amoxicillin. I had a couple roosters on antibiotics from the vet because they stopped crowing or sounded “off” and they found some bacteria in their throat. But they didn’t seem too overly concerned. I ended up scrubbing their waterers and doing...
Ok, so some of my chickens sound congested. Which would lead me to believe there is a respiratory issue. The beginning of June I filled one of their waterers with antibiotics to help fight off whatever they had going on. Three weeks later they still sound congested.
They all act normal, just...
Does this book also help with dealing with emergency situations? I recently lost my chicken due to water belly and not being confident in my home diagnosis.
Thanks! Her sister does a great job staying close. I also pick her up and move her around if she gets too lost.
I’m trying to get her use to the coop now. Last night I put her on the perch but my husband had to get her down this morning. So tonight I just put her inside the coop on the ground...
I may have inherited a partially blind chicken.
She practically puts her face on the ground to hunt for food. She stays close to her “sister”
The breeder offered a replacement but she’s so sweet I rather just love her.
Anyways, what are some “special needs” chicken things I need to take care of?
I haven’t really had any since I got home!
I even switched their kennel bottom cover to doggy pee pads. No blood so far!
But I’ll post a pic as soon as I see it again
They are Mille Fleur Cochins! I thought they were the normal D’Uccle but this like two fun chickens merged together!
Both these girls are a lot of fun! I’m enjoying them both
So, after some quick research it looks like bloody stool could be Coccidiosis. But before treating, I would like other opinions…(also, wasn’t sure if treating them without them having it would be harmful)
So, picked up young pullets March 28. They hatched Feb 13. I wasn’t expecting young...
She’s sweet. Not as personable as my lavender. But still sweet. She’s the biggest girl I got! She is a push over with most the hens, until I gave her some babies. She was a fierce momma! Her name is Momma Snickers! Named her after a chocolate bar…and it ended up being very fitting cause she’s...
I have a chocolate Orpington. She has some feather issues and is low lady in the pecking order. After being a “momma” she got all her feathers back and was looking great!
Then, she lost her neck feathers and as they start to come back in the others pluck them out. I have used anti-pecking spray...
Update!
Only thing weird that has happened since the lash egg incident was a soft egg the next morning. Then normal!
Nothing out of the ordinary with the rest of them. Actually now more hens started laying so 🤷🏻♀️
Here are some better photos (kinda). I tried to clean his foot off some but it’s hard when you’re by yourself holding a rooster, trying not to get attacked by the small rooster, trying to take a photo, etc etc 😆
My rooster has limped off and on for several months. I have checked his foot a couple times and never noticed anything obvious. Someone once said their rooster would hurt their ankles when mounting the hens. I figured that’s what it was.
But the other day he must have cut himself and I saw some...
Should I be worried about the others getting an infection as well?
I tried to check the camera to see who laid the lash egg but I couldn’t see. Is there anything else specific to check for?
Thanks so much in advance. I just want to make sure I try treat them all to prevent any further issues.
