Okay so it's been a week. She's still doing good. Stopped laying for 2 days and then started laying again yesterday. We're going to put her back in the coop tomorrow. Any further advice?
Quick update, started the erythromycin yesterday dissolved it in her water. She seems to be doing well. Laid another egg today, same size and hardness consistency. Eating normally, drinking normally. No obvious signs of infection.
We are going to keep her separate for at least a few...
Thank you so much for all of the responses.. my wife and I are very grateful.
API EI - erythromycin for fish is what I found in my area. Would this work for now until we can get Fish Mox?
Thanks for all the info. I am going to try and get antibiotics asap.
An update: she actually laid an egg this morning. Seems as big and solid as one's in the past. I am hoping this is a good sign?
Thank you! The white gunk is the antiseptic spray. Is the fish mox good enough of an antibiotic? Having trouble finding a vet that cares for chickens to get a prescription antibiotic. She's been eating good, her regular food, some meal worm treats and oatmeal (her favorite).
One of my hens was attacked by my pup yesterday. My wife quickly intervened but he got a good chunk of feathers from her rear side. We separated her from the other girls keeping her inside in a dog crate. We cleaned her wound, put poultry aid on it (TSC recommended). She is eating normal-ish and...
Thank you all for the responses. To answer a few questions.
The 3 dogs are a pit, a rottie and a yellow lab.
The lab has lots of obedience training, I originally trained her as a hunting dog and surprisingly she has been the best so far. The other two are trained for basic obedience. The rottie...
I am a new chicken owner buy long time dog owner. How do I get my 3 dogs used to the chickens?
My plan...
I just started bringing the chickens into my yard and keeping them in a large dog crate inside a dog kennel. Double layer of protection from the pups.
Let the dogs out (probably 1 at a...
Hi everyone Im really late to the show. Were there ever changes to the ordinance? I have 1/2 an acre more than enough room for the 4 hens I just got (Good thing I have great neighbors). Anyway just curious. I can understand no roosters but seriously no chickens at all
That's ridiculous, i can understand not allowing roosters on less than 3 acres but there is no reason not to allow other resident to have hens. I'd happily support the change. Good thing you told me because i was going to get chicks from tractor supply in the spring
