Wanted... almost ready to hatch eggs?? Does anyone offer them??

Kind of a strange question! But I have a chicken (one of two suburban chickens) that really really wants to be a mommy chicken (aka- she keeps going broody)! But I don't know if she has the patience to sit on a nest for weeks and weeks. I would love to know if there are any hatcheries/breeders...

1st time with a broody chicken!

I saw her out eating this morning, so I know she is getting out at least once. I took the egg she had under her out. She was not too happy about that one!!! Made all kinds of crazy noises when I touched her, but she never pecked at me. The hay she is sitting in is over wire mesh- so that is...

1st time with a broody chicken!

Lilly is on the nest and won't get up....she has gone broody! These are my first chickens (there are 3) and Lilly and Ruby just turned one year last week. (Violet is 3 months old). Anyway, I have no plans on adding to the flock, what should I do about the broody one? Should I try to get her off...

Mine go nuts over shredded mozzarella (store bought:( ) I would love to hear if it's OK. I did read that too much salt is not so good for them.

Is my she really a he???? How do I know??

I mixed the oyster shell into their food. Is it suppose to be separate???? They eat regular old mash (our feed store only has mash, scratch and Quik-Grow Cracket (they hate this)) and some house food (they love raw oatmeal, mozzarella cheese, grapes, strawberries, apples) plus all the bugs in...

    Potty Training Chickens, How-to!

I have a 6 week old Buff that we have not really introduced to the other two hens (they chase her). She LOVES being with us and with the dog inside! She still sleeps inside and spends a lot of time roaming around the house when I'm home (she's in the spare (tiled) bathroom when I'm not). I would...

how do I keep free range chickens out of landscaping?

I have mulch all over my grass, my ground cover in my planter boxes is non existent now (they ate it!), half my potted plants are torn up, my strawberry plants are struggling to get out new shoots before they are eaten (I did use chicken wire on these)... all this and only two hens (and a small...

    im so excited!!!

Isn't it so fun!! My EE lays about every other day now (she just started about a month ago). They are ping-pong ball size and it takes a BUNCH of them to make a breakfast, but I think it is the coolest thing! Congrats!!

Is my she really a he???? How do I know??

The one sort of next to her is a really small EE (she is not much bigger then a dove!!) They both look so small in the first photo! As for hiding her eggs- There aren't many places she could hide them! I've searched EVERYWHERE! Our backyard is really small (and fenced in- yup.. we're trendy...
