Okay this is helpful, thank you! I ordered that and will start giving her those as soon as they arrive. Still no hard eggs from her but no more soft ones either. She also still acts like a normal happy chicken thankfully. I appreciate it!
Hi! They get Purina layer feed crumbles. And then I give them a scoop of “snacks” on top of that which include a mixture of mixed seeds, mealworms, oregano, red pepper flakes, and garlic powder. They also have a flock block to snack on. I live in North Carolina in the US. The other two are...
Hi everyone!
I have a 1.5 year old olive egger who consistently laid large green eggs in the nesting box up until last week. I found two of her eggs under the roosting bar with super soft shells and then nothing at all for a full week. Yesterday she laid one leathery white egg on the ground in...
Thank you!! Today, she has been in the nest all day and gets very puffy and mad if I try to move her. But she’s not even sitting on an egg right now, just in there. She slept on the roost all night though. Can I do something in these early stages to stop it from getting worse?
My 8mo old hen looks like this… I found her in the nesting box and took her out and saw that her belly is bare. She was not like this yesterday. The other girls are fine and her skin isn’t inflamed. Eating and drinking fine, behavior is normal. Is she broody? If so, what do I do? We have no...
Oh wow I didn’t even think of switching out the bedding! I will try that too! Thanks for sharing! Had no idea they could be so finicky about nesting boxes!
Okay I will try this, thank you!! The hen who lays second is a bit less confident and is strictly a follower of the other two hens, so maybe she does like to lay on top of another egg!
Okay thank you! The EE lays first, then the OE tries to go into the box and that’s when they essentially scream at each other. The EE eventually gives up to go eat and then the OE goes in to lay on top of the EE’s egg. Would you put their eggs in different boxes or fake eggs in different boxes...
Hi! I have 3 hens and 6 nesting boxes. My OE and EE fight over the same box. So far, the fighting has not caused injury but a LOT of screeching and horrible sounds for an hour or two every single day… I worry that my neighbors are going to be frustrated if they aren’t already. Has anyone...
No one is puffed up or lethargic. They were all happy and active this morning, happy to eat breakfast. I only let them out of their run if I’m in the yard because I’m afraid of hawks. They are mostly in their coop and run. Thank you!
Hi everyone! I have 5 month old pullets who are still on medicated starter feed. I found this in their run this morning. They are all eating and acting normal. Does this look like cocciodosis or is this normal?
Thank you sooo much!
