Overall her foot looks better but this second one showed up after the antibiotics. She doesn’t seem as in as much pain from it, she is walking normal but it’s still causing swelling and has the scab now. I will look into probiotics thank you. Yes unfortunately for us our ducks are full time...
So sorry for not responding sooner, it has been a nightmare catching her every day to take care of this. I have attached a photo of the prescription information from the vet. We have finished the antibiotics and she has been walking just fine on the leg however we continued to soak her foot in...
Hello, I noticed my duck limping yesterday which we have seen our other ducks do before and they usually come right the next day. However this duck is still limping on day two and sitting down a lot. She is a free range duck so not very friendly to just pick up. I noticed today her foot was a...
I had to go out of town so catching her to give her meds wasn’t going to be easy for my husband. But the vet gave him a needled syringe and he was able to inject the medication into peas and has had no problems getting her to ingest them.
It is actually a great place to own ducks. The area we live we get a lot of rain which they love, the summer never gets over 85 degrees and winter very rarely gets below freezing and never snows. There are only a couple predators to worry about and we always have very green grass.
It’s a pretty remote volcanic island. Birds are really the only native thing here, though a lot of pests have been introduced. The biggest threats to our ducks are hawks and cats. Though we find neither goes for our full grown ducks.
Thank you, we will be picking up antibiotics from the vet. I had to order the calcium from online. Unfortunately there was no where I can go and buy the calcium I need. I’m just hoping we are not too late getting her all these things.
I’m realizing I am struggling to find any calcium in store so I will have to order online. The can get this. Can you have a look and see if they could work the same...
Yes we just have a bowl of oysters shells. Since we have a drake and they all eat from the same food we don’t add the calcium to their food but give them the option to have the shells. I’ve never noticed her eating too much of them. She is unfortunately not friendly enough to want to be held...
Thank you for the other calcium suggestion. Right now all we have are oyster shells but giving her a larger dose would be helpful. The calcium citrate I can get at the pharmacy. This was the calcium gluconate that they sell at the feed store...
