    Sorry it took me so long to respond. He's still doing ok. Eats and drinks on his own but not much. Still stands a little like a penguin but not as bad as he was. Thanks for all your help!

    Should I buy this Silkie rooster?

    I have always had silkie roosters. A few I got when they were chicks and didn't know they were roos or what color any would turn out to be. A few stayed solid in color but many were all sorts of colors when they matured. All beautiful! And it makes it fun to see what color chicks my all white...

    He was ok at first but now it seems like he's struggling to breathe. Almost like gasping. Opens his mouth and takes big breaths. Still will get up and squirm around occasionally but I'm not sure what to do now.

    Another chick hatched and didn't have any problems with its membrane drying out.

    The chick behind it has hatched but the one having trouble I did make the hole a little larger just taking the shell off and not membrane. It still is chirping and moving around but not trying to break free.

    I only put one in my incubator. I got it as a gift and wasn't supposed to use it until spring but I convinced my boyfriend to let me try one egg as a trial run.
