I have about 13 Rhode barrs and noticed that one of the hens has spurs as long as one of my roos while all the others don't! I know she's a hen, she lays, but why the spurs? I've noticed that some of my younger ones that just are becoming of laying age might have one or two spurs growing out of...
Wish I could help, I've got two Rhode Barr hens around that age who are doing the same thing. They stopped laying as soon as 1 out of 9 teens (adults now) started laying. Any new layers maybe? Or did they just stop? I heard that once in awihle they'll stop laying for a few weeks out of the year...
I have a rhode barr hen that turned out super orange too. Weird, least were in California so I named her poppy. If I was anywhere else shed probably be called orange chicken for giggles
Well, my friend hasn't had any luck establishing dominance. But Lilly is happy. She stood on her hind legs and helped me get rid of all the low hanging branches on my big trees in my yard. She was sooooo happy!
Will do! If I could buy all the males at this dairy I would. Every time I go there there's just barrels of dead males because they don't get the special attention the females do like being inside the barn with a heat lamp and being bottle fed. Sad.
