@Chicken_Obsesser @Eggcessive @OrpingtonManiac I received the prelim necropsy report! The preliminary diagnosis is Marek’s. Just wanted to update you all! Thanks again for your help :)
We purchase our pullets from a breeder that only sells pullets at 2 months. They also vax for mareks! I think the issue is our town has wild chickens and they love to come visit our yard and see our hens/pullets. My guess is that they are carriers and exposed our flock with their infected...
@OrpingtonManiac No canker sores. Thank you for the suggestion though! And @Eggcessive attached is a picture of her pupil. I’m leaning towards mareks because the other symptoms she has match it. I will definitely post the necropsy results!
She’s alright, but no improvements with her eye. This started about two days ago! She seems to walk fine but her shanks are turning a greenish color. At this point I’m fairly certain it’s mareks. We had a case in our other flock and she is showing many similarities. Unfortunately I think I am...
Thanks for your comment @Bawkbok! I was able to get her to drink some water with electrolytes and some watered down scrambled eggs! I don’t have the calcium or tums but I’m going to try them tomorrow! I also gave her some nutri-drench. I also reached out to the breeder I got her from and they...
Quick update - I brought her inside, and after being inside for a little bit, her labored breathing calmed down greatly. She still sounds a little funny when she breathes.
@Eggcessive @Chicken_Obsesser Thank you everyone for your responses. She has not started laying yet and I haven’t seen signs of any type of eggs. She will drink when I put her beak to water. I haven’t seen her eat but her crop has a little in it. Her crop is soft, you can mush around the food...
I have a Speckled Sussex pullet who seems to be acting strange. She isn’t including herself in the group as often, isn’t as active as normal, and her comb is very pale. She seems to be breathing funny as well. She is around 4.5 months. She has access to food, water, and shade to get out of the...
Thank you so much!! Are you able to tell what kind of worm? I thought they look like roundworms based on my research but I’m not certain. Are the eggs they’ve been laying recently ok to eat still?
Hi all. I found worms in my chicken’s coop this morning. I’m new to raising chickens! There are only two hens that stay in this coop, and one has been laying sporadically so I’m assuming it’s her (both are around a yr and a half old). I know I need to worm them, but what do I use? I’m seeing a...
I was finally able to find a vet nearby who will see chickens. I took her in yesterday afternoon, and the vet confirmed that she is clear of any egg-related issues. However, she does have an overgrowth of bacteria, including cocci and clostridium. The vet prescribed Clavamox (an antibiotic) and...
Thank you! She is continuing to eat and drink some. At this point she is no longer walking. She seems to hobble around using her wings to help her balance, but rarely stands up to walk. She is not passing much stool and what she does pass, it’s watery and white.
I did just catch her doing something different that I haven't seen her do before (make sure volume is all the way up). Attached is a link to the video - I could not figure out how to upload it directly to the post. https://vimeo.com/1043546498?share=copy
