    Hey, Will Raccoons Eat My Chickens?

    A racoon just killed my sweet little girl. You can tell it’s a racoon when they basically eat the breast and leave everything else there, including the heart! A few days later, the racoon was heading back to my coop….luckily my two hounds scared it first!

    Thank you everyone for all your help and responses! I had a very successful FIRST Hatch! 10 out of 11 hatched! The 11th just stopped growing and had no veins! I’m so happy! This site is the BEST!! Thank you!

    You are so wonderful!! I did end up helping the little guy this am! I heard him chirping, and he looked like he was having a hard time with the zip. I already knew the other egg had not cracked or pip. I was so excited to help this little guy! So I left him in the incubator for about 7 hours...

    Thank you!! So the chicks are doing awesome!! But I did put the two eggs back in the incubator. He did pip, but not much. BUT!! I heard chirping when I lifted her out again so I sprayed water on her and put her back. Someone said to give them a couple more days?

    Update!! 9 out of 11 have hatched! Day 21 today, BUT I have 2 left and can NOT get the humidity up. I’ve put my stand up humidifier right next to the counter, added water and is still at 65 from 72. The last 2 do have a small crack started. They are on lock down, but I’m stressing out. Any kind...

    First time incubating silkie eggs

    Today is day 19 not yesterday. So I took the egg tray out and the humidity had been 72-74. No cracks . I did lift the lid because I’m freaking out and so sad. I did hear some chirping. The humidity is down to 68. I don’t see any moment. What should I do?

    Hey! I thought I was on day 19 yesterday! I removed the egg tray and turned the humidity to 72 percent. TODAY is day 19 for my little silkie chicks. Please tell me I did not kill them or they drowned. I’m a hot mess already. Thank you

    A day ahead …..

    Today is day 19, I thought yesterday was. I removed the tray and the humidity has been at 72 percent. No movement no cracks. I’m freaking. These will be my first 11 I’ve ever tried. Please someone give me some good news.
