So turns out the eggs were a little further a long than I had thought. We have one that hatched today and two more peeping out. When should I move the chicks to a brooder?
Ok. I have a brooder pen big enough for her and the eggs. The down fall is I have 10 1 month old chicks in it right now. I might just have to spend a little bit of time putting something new together.
I’m assuming that it’s fine that I touch the eggs?
Also any idea why the dog would be taking...
So I currently have a broody hen. First time actually dealing with one. Of course she is being as mean as possible to ward off any predators, however the pit bull steals the hens eggs. Our chickens are all free range and go about anywhere they please. I am kinda worried about her safety staying...
When I was a lot younger ( I don’t remember the brand name) but it was the starfoam ones I wasn’t having very much luck with it I got about a 20% hatch rate. So I’ve been doing my reading mainly on the Brisnea but I’ve also tried to research a little on some others.
That’s awesome I’ll have to check it out either tomorrow or Saturday. The wife and I are going to head a few counties over for a livestock auction so maybe I’ll stop at a few different tsc and check. I checked my local tsc online it says they have none available so maybe one of the others will
I was looking at the Brinsea at tractor supply. I’m just wanting to replenish my little flock with barnyard mix chicks since all of my hens have good temperaments therefore I don’t need something huge so I think I’ll be ordering it then
So I’ve been out of the chick hatching game for several years. And I’ve moved a few times and gotten rid of my old stuff. What incubator do you prefer to use?
Yea. I think I might let them free range together after a while but for the time being I might just get them and keep them in the juvenile chicken pen since No one is using it at this time
