And a trail of feathers from there to across the fence, past a dirt mound, and then I lost the trail but I'm assuming into the tree line. I'll have to look again...

We have about 3 sqft of space for each bird (3 hens and one rooster) and no run attached. So I can leave them in there for 2 days no problem. Outside the coop they have plenty of places to hide from hawks. We have a dachshund that we are taking out near the coop so she can get used to them but...
We recently moved to a chicken friendly area and a friend has been keeping our flock at her place until we were ready (she picked up 5 hens and a rooster and only needed 2 hens at the time).

I bought a blue 55gal barrel with a lid that screws off for $25 off of someone in Leander. Saw the ad on craigslist. The ones w/o screw top lids were a little cheaper. And she has a bunch. I haven't seen any for less than $15 (w/o screw top lids) around here but that doesn't mean they don't exist.
