They a generally slow moving unless they see you running towards your coop looking pi##ed off.
Very good climbers but they would struggle to climb the smooth steel.
If the entrance is a meter or so off the ground it might be enough.
We have pressure from everything around our house. Hawks...
Not my photo/coop but this is about the same size as the bigger goanna I have nearby. Luckily the bigger one can't squeeze into the run but the smaller ones between 3 to 4 foot long can get in and its these ones im trying to stop...
Hi all.
My coop is nice and secure at night but during the day they are let out via an auto door into their semi secure run.
Now this setup has worked great apart resent hot days above 30 degrees Celsius ( sorry aussie here) has started to attract goannas ( large lizards) in the past the...
Ok the two a looking different now
I thought both cockerals originally
But one has a noticeably redder comb and waddle along with overall thicker legs.
Also noticed the one with a red comb also has a blacker neck while the other has more of the silver pattern. Unsure if that means anything.
Harsh response but fair I guess. Both will be staying with the flock unless one crows in a few months but I'm more interested in how this pair of identical chicks from the same hatch are growing differently.
I purchased these two as unsexed silver laced ( chance of blue laced )
Early on all my google expertness leads me to think both are boys.
Equal length flight feathers.
Head hanging
Slow to feather
Overall attitude
Now this photo shows them both at just over 4 weeks. The closest chick has less...
The leg shaking came a week or so after the wing droop. Seems to happen on whichever leg is un-weighted at the time. But definitely not paralysed in any way. Still walks and runs fine. Can sit on a high perch no worries. That's why I don't think it mareks. I have 9 other birds none have any...
What is have also noticed is that she is far redder in the face when she is standing. When she sits it goes to a more normal shade quickly so even standing is a stress it seems.
Ok ill try to get a video.
Using growers feed with occasional scratch mix as a treat.
All the above treatments were spread over several weeks not on top of each other
She's currently isolated and giving amprolium a go and nothing else. 24 hours now and looked a little worse today but it's a hot...
Hi
She would be about 16 weeks but not laying yet. No pests
I have used DE a while back but more as a preventative. No pests/mites. Nothing in coop due being a new set-up from the day she arrived mostly.
Yes eats and drinks fine.
Hello all.
I have a 12 week old bantam. Plymouth rock.
Few weeks back I noticed it started drooping it's wings a little.
Around that time I was treating another pullet for respitory issues so I thought this was a cross infection.
The other chicken got better and a vet visit confirmed no major...
