    Free WTB Roosters! Denver Area

I have three, possibly four, four month old Whiting True Blue roosters that need to move on! They are free, they have outgrown the space I can offer them here. There are some really gorgeous ones, if you are looking for a flock leader. Blue egg laying genes!

    To Introduce Cockerels or Not?

Greetings! Well, my hatching egg journey this year has taken a bit of a turn, and I'm decently certain I have ended up with just two girls, and five boys :(. They are about six and a half weeks old now, and growing well. My question is on flock integration. I currently have 5 adult hens, I plan...

    5 Laying Hens, Denver CO

It is sadly time for me to end my chicken journey. I very much wanted to have free range chickens, but as it turns out our predator situation just isn't one I can manage. We had 11 hens, but just lost 6, so I am looking to sell my remaining five and close up shop (this is now the third major...

    Chicken Breed Focus - Bielefelder

Oh my gosh, yup! Must be where it came from! I've had lets see....20 chicks now all from this same line, and just this one with the feathered legs. So strange!

    Chicken Breed Focus - Bielefelder

Okay....I had a baby hatch with a single line of feathering going down the side of each leg!!! My flock is all Biels, all came from Omega Hills. Do Bielefelders have any feather footed birds in their genetics, maybe way far back? This is crazy! 12 others from the same pairing, no one else has...

Easter egger — girl or boy?

They were my first non auto sexing birds, and sold as sexed females (both of those) so I was easily fooled when one developed much faster than the other!

Easter egger — girl or boy?

So, in the picture attached I was intending to get a photo of the cockerel in the center, but check out the chicken in the corner. 9 week old Easter Egger. I wish I had a better photo, but this is all I have. Based on the comparison I was convinced I had a m/f pair. Nope! Little bugger started...

Easter egger and possible olive egger 18 weeks old

Pullets! I had a 4 month old Easter egger that 'suddenly' decided to start crowing recently 🙄 I was so convinced it was a pullet as its clutchmates had revieled themselves so much earlier!!

    Incubator Lost Power

Thank you for the reply! It was actually just a silly accident, the only plug in the area is tied to a light switch, which is normally taped on. Unbeknownst to me my toddler discovered how to flip it off without removing the tape 😑 i didn't notice what had happened until I got home from work...

    Incubator Lost Power

Is there any hope? My incubator lost power today for around 10 hours. So sad right now:(

    Is it time to assist?

If it were me, I would assist, but that doesn't mean it's the right choice! I've had several unabsorbed yolks to contend with as a result, which is no fun. Do you have access to an incubator? Ideally you would move it into an incubator with some nice humidity to give it a little more time to...

    Sneaking Chicks Under Broody Hen

......and why I added that is that I could wait and give her some of the later hatching ones, but it would have to be like a day old chick and one that hatched that same day....not sure how old is too old to try to sneak under there. Im assuming I can't just add a chick each night 😆

    Sneaking Chicks Under Broody Hen

I should also add, this is a totally weird staggered hatch I have going on right now...3 are due tomorrow and then one each day until we get to 12. We had a fox incident and lost our rooster, so I was desperate to hatch some of his babies and was too worried about trying to store them in the...

    Sneaking Chicks Under Broody Hen

So, I have three chicks due to hatch tomorrow, and coincidentally their mama went broody yesterday...is it a recipie for disaster to try to sneak them under her when they are a day old, her 3rd broody day? This is her third time going broody this year, she sat for 21 days plus on both past...
