Thanks everyone. I think I have a grasp of what I need to do now. I think I can remove some of the turner trays and be OK. From what I read, humidity shouldn't be that much of an issue for the three days of hatch for the first clutch. I really appreciate everyone's input!
I know this is probably not a good idea but I really don't have much of a choice. I have two clutches of duck eggs added about two weeks apart. Both on automatic turners. What would be the best way of dealing with this? I'm open to any suggestions besides buying another bator.
Thanks!
What are some ducks that will stick around or not fly off from their home pond? I know Pekins will stay, mainly because they can't fly, but are their any others?
Thanks
Well, the day after I posted this I found an egg. I've found two since then. Only problem is they were all cracked. Not sure if she not getting enough calcium or if they froze. It was pretty cold those few days. Any ideas? Should I just put out some oyster shell to be safe?
I see them mating but I haven't seen any signs of her "laying" or seen any nest. They are kept free range on our pond and are fully mature I think. Hatched on July 13th. Is she laying and I just haven't found them or is it still to early in the year or are they still too young?
Thanks
Thanks everybody. Sorry it took so long. Between weather and finding help to put it out, it just took a while.
Now I just wonder how long it will take for the ducks to start using it. Heck, they won't even swim on the same side of the pond that it's on.
Also, I was wanting to get...
Just put it out today. None of them even really went near it from what I saw. Still pretty new to them but I'm sure they will warm up to it eventually.
Honestly, I have no real place for her to lay. They free range all day and night and she hasn't started laying yet. I'm guessing as soon as the days get a little longer she will start. When she does start, since she probably won't sit on them, I will just let nature take care of the eggs she...
