can i have one drake with only one female

I had one drake with 1 girl for about March-July so it was spring season and he was very calm. It is honestly a drake by drake basis.

Anyone familiar with migratory bird act?

What do you mean by feral? I am being told from others that technically all birds are mallard hybrids which make them protected because mallards are protected. But all of these breeds have names and none are listed as protected. DNR was a dead end for me for now. Now waiting on DARD to reply...

    New Duckling Integration

That's pretty much what you need to do. 5 acre roaming area is pretty big I dont personally free range with out supervision so I dont have an experienced way to introduce in that way but I have dont multiple introductions. I pen them up next to each other, give the supervised play time outside...

Anyone familiar with migratory bird act?

I agree, and that's what I advice. Anyone familiar knows those 6 pekin in a public park are doomed. But I am genuinely curious to what the lawful and correct answer is

How to get rid of a mean drake?

You have had him for 3 years surely something has you keeping him around. Is he just more aggressive than you're used to or just comparing to your other drakes? Maybe they are just a bit more calm. Craigslist won't do it. Facebook is the faster and best way to relocate your ducks if you want...

Anyone familiar with migratory bird act?

Hi friends, I have come here to seek some advice or knowledge around the migratory bird act and what it really means. I am in several Facebook duck groups mostly to help others with issues and a very common occurrence seems to be domestic ducks being dumped into public places. Now, a few...

    New Palace for duckies!!

Location Fowlerville, Michigan. Maybe 20 minutes outside of Lansing. Added photos for pool draining. There is a pond behind by the house. Eventually we will run the drain into that, for now it just goes to the side of the run and under. Deck has enough spacing an easy jet spray with the hose...

    My ducks butt..?

Family did. It's quite the upgrade from their other house. But we need a lot of extra protection, and extra room since we have less time with them.

    My ducks butt..?

Update!! Kiki still doing great. Took her to the vet in May and did testing..she is back to laying with zero complications. She still gets her limp here and there, not sure if related or not but she is a rock star. A lot has happened since our last post, here are the duckies in their new home

    New Palace for duckies!!

Hello all! Been a while but I figured I'd show off some pictures of my duckies new home. Not fully complete..want to add a misting or sprinkler system with some fans, outside lighting, and a safe place down the ramp they can roam and eat grass.

My drake won’t accept the new ducks...

Just time, every introduction is different. I've had one take right away because she immediately submitted to our drake then I've had some take months. Babies are the hardest because you don' want then to get hurt. Once they are aroun 4 months I'd just let them go, he probably just wants to mate...

    My ducks butt..?

Update. Kiki is amazing!! We did take one last vet trip a week or two ago for a final update because we have been monitoring her weight. She was fluctuating between 2.85 and 2.97 kgs. Which was concerning because she that same weight when she had fluid in her. But as I suspected she is just a...

    Mean male pekin :(

Well don't cull your problems. That's the easy way out. Just cuddle him extra hard, he will get the point. Our drake does it but he only goes after my girlfriend and never me. She picks him up for a few minutes and let's him go then he's fine. You can "mount" him in a sense and put him between...
