Don't ever use chicken wire!!!! Always use 1/4 in hardware cloth. Foxes, dogs, and raptors will go right thru the chicken wire. foxes can climb, so make sure you have any openings secures with the hardware cloth. there are also martins, minks, and weasels who can get thru the smallest...
i use the pine chip bedding. It absorbs well freshens the coop and is easy to clean up. You can get a packed cube from Walmart for about $8. It will cover a 6x8 coop just fine. I use hay in the nest boxes.
I put a chicken apron on the picked on chicken. Until at least she is healed. A few weeks. You can get them at the local feed store. They are also easy to sew. If the picked on area broke the skin put some good salve on it before the apron so it will heal faster.
