I wouldn't be worried at all except the farmer told me that he got the sex link from a friend a few weeks before I traded. Meaning it wasn't raised on the farm where the pullets were. I'm only trying to take precautions cause I've heard of some flocks getting wiped out by newcomers.
Do you think it's too late? The new hen has already been all over the run, in the pen, and later eggs in the nesting house. I was going to put antibiotic medicine in the water and hope for the best. Is it still worthwhile to quarantine?
If anyone could help me out it would be greatly appreciated https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/914556/introducing-an-adult-bird-to-a-pullet-flock#post_13913232
I purchased 7 chicks a few months ago that are now 17 weeks old. There were supposed to be 6 hens and 1 rooster but there turned out to be 2 roosters. Last week, I took one of the roosters back to the same farm I bought all the chicks from and traded it for a 2 year old sex link. I didn't...
I have a pen frame made out of 2x3s and feather strips. What can I do to the wood to prevent it from rotting? It's out in the elements and susceptible to rain, ants, and other insects. Any ideas would help, I'm looking to make this last for many years.
My Pekins are also 4 weeks. I am starting to "train" them now so I won't encounter any problems when they are fully grown. They are doing fine with it so I see no reason why your rouéns could not start now also.
I actually just went out and tested it! The ducklings got up the ramp just fine. Just to help anyone else with duck ramps, mine is 3 foot at 25 degrees. I sprayed it with rubber and placed shelf liner across it for traction. Then I tacked down horizontal slits every 5 inches. The ducklings run...
What angle is that ramp at?... I was going to use the same exact concept with the horizontal boards, with a 3 foot board at 30 degrees. I'm not sure if my ducks would be able to get up it though. Thanks!
