We recently suffered a predator attack and lost 7/8 chickens. We have one left, a Phoenix pullet named Fawkes.
We cant get any more, mainly because the heart break, and Im afraid Im attatched to this pullet.
Is it alright to keep her alone, or should I bite my tongue and rehome her?
Hi ya'll! So, I'm a resident in Portland, Tennessee, a small town by the border. Now, I know my hens are okay here. But I had another question- Are Roosters allowed? We do have a Tractor Supply that sells chicks right in town, so I figured they would be, but I'm not finding any information...
Hey guys! So my flock just turned 10 weeks old. So far, I got 7 out of 8 of my birds being pullets. This one is throwing me off, though. I have no experience with this breed at all, so any help would be great.
At what age can I "gender" a phoenix? I have two. One has much 'fuller' tail feathers (much more upright) and one doesn't, and the one with fuller tail feathers is also bigger by a bit. I'll try and get a picture if I can catch them. (Free-ranging right now)
I figured as much! A few nights ago a predator managed to get into our coop (wasn't spooked by the floodlights) and He was the one to alert the family in time to go out and shoot it. We lost two, but two is better than a whole flock.
Hey ya'll! A while ago I posted a photo of what I believed to be BLRW. A few nice folk told me they were not BLRW, or atleast full BLRW. After talking with the lady I acquired them from, I can confirm they are atleast part BLRW, but I dont know what the 'roo is. Also, if anyone is able to...
Hi ya'll! So, I have 6 chicks that are about 4/5 weeks old (I was told BLRW, but right now I'm not too sure- they look like my friends BLRW and the ones the woman who sold them to me kept.)
Today, they're about 4 and a half weeks. Mostly feathered and outside in a brooder / coop / run. Today...
Oh, that's interesting. The person I got them from said they were all BLRW hatched from her show birds. I read online that theres three color possibilities (Splash, Black, and Blue), so I wasn't sure, but I was going off of what she told me.
Hey guys! New Chicken mama here. I have six chicks, all about five weeks old, that I need to know the gender of (We cannot have roos where I live, so if I have one, I'd like to rehome him with a local farm who said they'd take him as they recently lost one of their roos.) They're about five...
I do, haha! I was just about to see if anyone can help me gender them in the gendering forum. (I dont know if it's too soon yet, they're five weeks old.)
